The Frontline Healthcare Visibility Gap

In rural regions of Bangladesh, Community Paramedics serve as primary healthcare pillars. Yet, with no centralized directory, NGOs, health agencies, and regional referral teams operated in silos, unable to verify credentials, locate active professionals, or map coverage dynamically.

The Engineering Directive

Swisscontact's ASTHA initiative engaged Beatnik Technology to transition thousands of scattered paper registries into a unified, secure database. The directory had to securely host validated profiles, map geolocations, and interface seamlessly with regulatory bodies.

The Verified Database Schema Ledger

To transform unstructured raw data into verified, usable intelligence, Beatnik mapped and constructed a centralized relational registry. The database normalizes the following core fields for each profile:

Central Directory normalized Scheme
paramedic_id
Unique identifier cross-referenced with Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council registry keys.
verification_status
Boolean status indicating completion of call-center validation and document verification.
gis_coordinates
Stored Latitude and Longitude values capturing real-time geolocations in deep rural environments.
district_coverage
Relational mappings linking paramedic activity profiles to active rural coverage districts.

Multi-Stakeholder Interaction Pipelines

To ensure security and platform usability, the directory operates distinct interaction pipelines for each core ecosystem user:

01

The Paramedic Portal

Enables registered paramedics to self-manage operational files, update service availability, and submit coordinates securely.

02

The Stakeholder Directory

An optimized public interface for clinics, NGOs, and hospitals to filter, locate, and connect with paramedics by region and expertise.

03

Swisscontact Management Core

The operational engine allowing ASTHA managers to audit new applications, analyze regional healthcare coverage gaps, and export reports.

04

The Regulatory Audit Gateway

Provides regulatory partners and the BNMC with compliance check links to verify professional certification authenticity.

The 120-Day Chronological Development Log

We execute complex deployments through intensive, overlapping sprints, ensuring rapid launch backed by systematic support loops:

Month 01 (Sprints 1-2)

Data Collection, Cleansing & Call-Center Operations

Deployed a custom call-center infrastructure with dedicated validation agents. Successfully called and cleansed professional records for approximately 4,000 paramedics across 6 districts, filtering duplicate files.

Month 02 (Sprints 3-4)

Ecosystem Architecture & Database Schema Design

Engineered the database layer in PostgreSQL, configured Laravel REST API gateways, and integrated GIS geo-coordinate mapping APIs.

Month 03 (Sprints 5-6)

Interactive Portals & Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Built secure frontend portals in React.js. Fully locked down multi-tier user logins, profile directory tables, and dynamic filtering widgets.

Month 04 (Sprints 7-8)

Security Hardening, UAT, and Cloud Launch

Conducted end-to-end user acceptance testing, completed AES-256 field-level data encryption audits, and launched on scalable AWS cloud servers.

12 Months Support & Maintenance SLA

Ongoing Optimization & Maintenance Phase

Continuous database performance tuning, monthly security patch updates, routine backups, and full uptime monitoring to support Swisscontact ASTHA's operations through 2026.

The Dev Team Debug Logs

When engineering database products designed to run in deep rural areas, real-world execution means solving hard technical challenges in real-time:

GPS_SYNC_CONTROLLER.LOG STATUS: ACTIVE

[CRITICAL ERR] Paramedic client GPS ping dropped. Network connection timeout in deep rural district.

[SYS ANALYSIS] User bandwidth restricted. Standard JSON geolocation request failed.

[IMPLEMENTING FIX] LocalStorage offline cache integrated. Coordinates stored in client browser. Auto-sync queue triggered upon 2G signal restoration.

[SYS STATUS] Offline cache sync success. Location logged: Tangail (24.2502° N, 89.9167° E)

PII_SECURITY_GATEWAY.LOG STATUS: ENCRYPTED

[SECURITY SCAN] Scanning profile fields for PII (Personally Identifiable Information) vulnerabilities.

[WARN] Phone numbers, cert numbers, and NIDs exposed in raw PostgreSQL tables.

[IMPLEMENTING FIX] Applied AES-256 field-level encryption. DB decryption tokens restricted strictly to authenticated ASTHA RBAC admin views.

[SYS STATUS] Hashing verified. Compliance standards aligned with NGO guidelines.

Centralized Registry Interface Preview

The live directory utilizes indexed database queries to load verified medical records in sub-200ms:

Lailun Nahar Nilphamari Verified
SK. Shamim Al Mamun Sylhet Verified

System Architecture Core Specifications

The central directory was engineered with scalable frameworks to ensure zero downtime and enterprise-grade performance:

React.js (Frontend Portal)
Laravel PHP (Core API Orchestration)
PostgreSQL (Relational Database)
AWS Cloud Deployment
Custom GIS Geolocation Integration
AES-256 Data Encryption at Rest
