Digital eDirectory & Offline-First Field Data Registry
The agricultural service economy in the rural sandbar regions ("chars") of Northern Bengal was historically limited by paper-based records. Operational profiles, directory catalogs, and verification records were scattered physically across multiple agencies, leading to massive friction.
Beatnik Technology partnered with Swisscontact to coordinate a comprehensive digital transformation. Over a rapid 5-month timeline, we managed local field data compilation, built a structured PostgreSQL relational index, and launched a robust eDirectory Platform supporting multi-tier operational access.
The Challenge
Reliable coordination in Northern Bengal's chars is extremely difficult. We had to design an offline-resilient data-capture model, digitize stacks of raw handwritten logs, and establish a cloud directory that can handle security and stakeholder profiles.
How the Offline-to-Cloud Pipeline Works
1. Field Capture
25 mobile enumerators collect metadata offline in remote chars using KoboToolbox.
2. Audit & Verification
Paper records are systematically scanned, validated, and scrubbed for data integrity.
3. Multi-Tier Delivery
Cleaned directories are compiled, indexed, and published to secure role-based web portals.
Our Core Responsibilities
Field Data Collection
Deployed 25 dedicated local field enumerators across remote char locations in Northern Bengal. They utilized KoboToolbox to securely capture field-level data offline on their mobile devices, logging GPS tags and operational metrics.
Scan & Verify Migration
Built a systematic processing pipeline to convert heaps of paper data. Our validation teams audited every incoming profile, scanned physical documents, and securely migrated legacy information into a modern PostgreSQL database format.
Portal Design & Dev
Designed a fast interface on Figma and developed a high-performance Next.js frontend. The platform connects to a scalable Laravel API backend to serve real-time database queries to different stakeholder groups.
AWS Cloud Deployment
Engineered a robust, highly-available AWS cloud infrastructure. Configured auto-scaling groups, SSL security, automated PostgreSQL backup systems, and optimized asset delivery networks for consistent speed in low-bandwidth regions.
On-Site Local Training
Conducted direct on-site orientation and technical hands-on training workshops. This empowered Swisscontact administrators and local managers to comfortably run the system and handle cloud administrative tools without ongoing developer assistance.
Technical Documentation
Created exhaustive administrative playbooks, system configuration guidelines, API schemas, and localized user manuals. This guarantees easy codebase maintenance and seamless platform expansion in the future.
Multi-Tier Rules-Based Directory Access
To safely handle diverse partners, agricultural groups, and service providers, we built an enterprise-grade role-based access control (RBAC) layer directly into the system backend.
